History

Dating back to 1846 when Lot Estes first purchased the land, Chetola Resort boasts a rich history that blends functionality with luxury.

Originally home to a horse stable and way station, the property later evolved into a popular summer resort known as 'Silverlake'.

In 1892, the estate was bought by William Stringfellow, who named it 'Chetola', who transformed it into a beautiful mountain retreat.

The estate continued to grow, hosting grand parties under the Snyder family in the early 20th century and in 1982, Chetola Resort was developed into a sought-after retreat, with luxurious accommodations and meeting facilities.

Today, Chetola combines its historic charm with modern amenities, including Timberlake's Restaurant, a renowned, Orvis-endorsed fly fishing lodge, a luxurious spa and unique outdoor experiences, preserving its legacy while offering a memorable getaway.
